Matteo Damiani focuses his interests in international media and the digital world, contaminating his works with collages drawn from classical literature and cinema.

In his research, the artist focuses on the simultaneous incorporation of the physical aspect of painting, combined with collages of images taken from our daily lives, frames from newscasts, films, and books.

In the "Breaking News" project, for example, Damiani gathers a dense grid of collage materials, frames of current news that seem to delineate a new space of perception, a hybrid between the digital world, media, and abstract painting.

Damiani's artistic research involves various mediums such as video installations, photography, and film projects; his work is focused on exploring the relationship between contemporary culture and the digital world, between materiality, surface, and latent images.
